Kamala Harris has used Beyoncé‘s song ‘Freedom’ as the soundtrack to her first presidential election campaign video. Watch below.

The United States’ Vice President shared her official presidential election campaign video this morning on X/Twitter. In the clip, Harris poses the question: “What kind of country do we want to live in?” She then goes on to say: “We choose freedom.”

Throughout the entire video, Beyoncé’s 2016 track ‘Freedom’ is playing in the background. The powerful song – from her critically acclaimed 2016 LP ‘Lemonade’ – sees the pop star sing: “Freedom/ Where are you?/ ‘Cause I need freedom, too/ I break chains all by myself/ Won’t let my freedom rot in hell/ I’ma keep running/ ‘Cause a winner don’t quit on themselves.”

This past Monday (July 22), Harris made her first public appearance since President Joe Biden announced on Sunday (21) that he would be dropping out of the 2024 presidential election and endorsing Harris to run in his place as the Democratic nominee.

While appearing at her first campaign staff meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, Harris walked out to ‘Freedom’ as well.

While Beyoncé has yet to publicly comment on Harris running for President, her mother Tina Knowles has voiced her support for the current Vice President on social media: “New, youthful, sharp energy…Go Vice President Kamala Harris for President. Let’s Go #kamala2024.”

Other musicians, actors and celebrities who have endorsed Harris include Charli XCX, John Legend, Jamie Lee Curtis, Viola Davis, Barbra Streisand, Mark Hamill, Spike Lee, Lizzo and more.

Charli gave her backing to Harris on social media, writing: “Kamala IS brat,” while Legend called for the American public to “elect Kamala Harris as our President”.

Elsewhere, Olivia Rodrigo recently threw her support behind Harris for the next US President over her stance on reproductive rights.

Meanwhile, a writer from The Simpsons has reacted to news the show ‘predicted’ Harris’ presidential nomination.
